In the first edition of the Romanian Electrotechnics Week (19th-24th September 2005), the Faculty has organized and hosted two scientific manifestations:

• THE SYMPOSIUM OF UNCONVENTIONAL ELECTRICAL MACHINES– ELS 2005
• THE EXHIBITION OF INVENTICS 2005
In the same week we celebrated 20 YEARS OF HIGHER EDUCATION OF ELECTRICAL PROFILE IN SUCEAVA, as it was in the academic year 1985 - 1986 that the specialisation of Industrial Energetics was born, the first of the electrical specializations to be created in Suceava.

The third edition of the Symposium of Unconventional Electrical Machines took place between the 22nd – 23rd of September 2005. In the framework of the Symposium, 37 scientific works were presented, grouped in 3 sections:

A. Unconventional Electrical Machines – 21 papers
B. Unconventional Energy Conversion Systems – 10 papers
C.  Small Power Electrical Drives– 6 papers.
The majority of them (15 works) concerned the conception, the experimental testing  and the theoretical study of several electrical machines such as: solar electrical motors, electrostatic microengines; electrical microvibromotors; unprotected submergible electrical motors, liquid electro - mechanical actuators.
The works that were presented here are the outcome of the research carried out at the Research Centre of Electrical Machines, Devices and Electrical Drives – EMAD. These works were carried out in the frame of some diploma works, within the research for some PhD theses or as research related to the carrying out of some CNCSIS grants. s of the 2nd section was related to the preoccupations of the teaching staff at the
The main theme area of the work Suceava University in the field of design, realisation and testing of some small power aeolian and hydraulic aggregates, but especially to those of the representatives of U. T. Moldova of Kishinev, with great experience in the field of aeolian energy valorisation.
Some remarkable works were the syntheses presented in the field of reduced speed systems of drives with asynchronous linear motors in a hybrid variant or with bilateral inductors with „longitudinally shifted” homologous cuts, as well as some works concerning the vectorial control of electrical drives.

The second edition of the exhibition of inventics has gathered 80 inventions, 20 of them carried out in 2005. Posters with invention description, medals gained at the international salons (Iasi, Brussels, Geneva) and models carried out in the laboratories of the faculty were displayed in the exhibition. Abstract. Paper deals with quality and reliability of square coils processed by photo-imaging technique on LTCC. LTCC technology offers the construction of square coils suitable for RF and microwave advanced applications with better properties. Examples of a new line structuring method are photo-imaging inks applied on LTCC and in this paper are discussed critical process steps of Fodelź technology from Du Pont. We designed and manufactured many planar and 3D square coils with narrow widths and spaces that offer the possibility to construct the coils under controlled inductance. We tested the quality and reliability of square coils by these tests: damp heat cyclic tests, thermal shocks, accelerated ageing thermal stress. Correlation among electrical properties, ageing and process condition of square coils based on Fodelź technologies were analysed. The results have shown the positive effect of using smaller and more precise lines based on Fodel.

SIMULATION OF THREE-RATE CONTROL FOR A HIGH-ORDER STOCHASTIC MODEL OF BOEING B767 AIRCRAFT

Igor ASTROV

Ehitajate tee 5, 19086 Tallinn, Estonia
igor.astrov@dcc.ttu.ee

Abstract. Despite perfecting of performances of computers and applied programs the problems of decomposition for high-order stochastic control systems remain actual. This paper presents a decomposition technique for describing a three-rate continuous-time stochastic control system as state-space (SS) models of multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) subsystems. An illustrative example from the aircraft industry – decomposed three–rate control of an aeroelastic MIMO model of 55th order for a modified Boeing B767 airplane at a flutter condition – was carried out using the proposed three-rate SS decomposition technique. The results of decomposition of an original stochastic system on three-rate autonomous subsystems are tested with the help of the block diagrams of functioning for the given original control system with single linear-quadratic-Gaussian (LQG) controller and for three-rate control system with three proportional-integrating (PI) controllers. This example demonstrates that the research technique results in simplified low-order MIMO autonomous subsystems with low-order PI controllers running at different rates and shows the quality of the proposed technique. The simulation results with use of software package Simulink demonstrate that this research technique would work for real-time MIMO high-order stochastic systems.

Abstract. In this paper we describe the case of a complete data communication beam used in a satellite and space channel. The case of error correction and modulation codes of practical modes are considered. A practical data communication channel is designed and tested in a complete combined system. We use C language or Altera’ s MAX PLUS II VHDL SW to implement a system that  achieves a high rate of performance. Also, we use error protection methods to protect the messages and make the communication reliable and improve the performance of the system by matching the required system characteristics and help to mitigate the problems of EMC channel.

Abstract. In this paper a new approach in workflow modelling and control is presented. The main idea consists of Petri nets model implementation using artificial intelligent agents. The main differences from a dedicated agent framework and this approach appear in two points. The agent communications will be restricted at the oriented graph resulted from workflow analysis and the transitions will be in fact made by agents that can have any required complexity. Also the agent interaction can create new rules that will be added into general rule database if the user approves it.

1) catherine.hurley@ul.ie, 2)timothy.hall@ul.ie

Abstract. Macromedia Flash has always been a popular software product to use in creating multimedia applications for learning. It is particularly suitable for creating reusable learning objects which follow the framework set out in the Cisco Reusable Learning Object (RLO) strategy. This paper will examine how flash is moving towards a more open source development strategy by releasing the source code of its flash player, making its compiled Shockwave Flash file format(*.swf) more open. It will also examine how flash developers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of sharing and reuse. Developers are releasing the source Flash file (*.fla)s of their compiled Shockwave Flash objects under the creative commons licence to facilitate reuse and learning. This will allow learning objects developed in Flash to become more reusable as educational developers can adapt the source code in the original flash file to meet the needs of their students.
